PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

GENERAL:
In accordance with the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual and the requirements of our accrediting bodies, the employee will: support the mission "Partnering with our community for quality health and healing", the five core values "Ownership, Always better than yesterday, Service first, Integrity, and Stewardship of our resources (OASIS). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Willingness to function at the top of your licensing authority
2. Execute duties and maintenance pertaining to medications and the pharmacy's systems related to medications in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. (Ex: Omnicell fills, repackaging, IV admixtures, outdates, etc.)
3. Perform department secretarial functions such as collecting new outpatient orders, providing the pharmacist with those orders, entering outpatient orders each day accurately, charge capture, and facilitating communications.
4. Participate and communicate actively in ordering and maintaining stock of all necessary supplies including medications and otherwise for the pharmacy to function smoothly.
5. Interact with outside entities as necessary to facilitate pharmacy workflow. (Ex: Omni Support, Billings Clinic)
6. Produce reports as requested.
7. Provide training for staff as necessary on pharmacy related processes, including intradepartmental and interdepartmental training.
8. Seek and promote all quality measures.
9. Assist with creating and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
10. Report all pertinent information to the Director of Pharmacy promptly.
11. Comes to work as scheduled and on time. Is there when you need them. Gets their work done and readily helps others when needed. The team can always count on them
12. Supports workplace design for employee safety. Meets safety expectations. Follows safety policies.
13. Follows measures to minimize overtime, call backs, material waste and other inefficiencies
14. Regularly attends departmental meetings. Reviews quality data. Follows chain of command. Shares necessary information with others. Uses AIDET with patients and all other customers.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
The Pharmacy Technician shall:

1. High School graduate or equivalent
2. Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
3. Previous experience working in a medical or health care facility preferred but not required
4. Must possess communication skills to relate to the public in person
5. Demonstrate good organizational abilities
6. Seeks proficiencies in computer applications, e.g. word processing, spread sheets, database, presentation, and project publication.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret appropriate journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write policies and procedures that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and is knowledgeable in metrics and apothecary.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to modify care based on the developmental / functional age of the patient as well as that of the patient's ethnic background.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• BLS
• Current Wyoming Pharmacy Technician License

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to interact with patients, families, visitors and co-workers. Ability to interact assertively and tactfully when dealing with conflict and in group solving activities. Ability to demonstrate a professional, open minded approach in identifying problems and resolving problems/conflicts.

While filling this position, the employee must regularly lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. This position also requires walking or standing to a significant degree. This position also requires reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, and hearing, stooping, bending, crouching, and working with equipment.
